Author: Ningbo Xuanli
To further implement the national strategies of peaking carbon emissions and achieving carbon neutrality, on May 12, coinciding with the Fifth Silk Road International Expo and the China East–West Cooperation and Investment & Trade Fair, the Carbon Neutrality (Xi’an) International Forum was held jointly hosted by the People’s Government of Shaanxi Province, the Ministry of Ecology and Environment, the Asian Development Bank, and other organizations. The forum brought together hundreds of participants, including academicians, experts and scholars, business leaders, representatives of financial institutions, as well as foreign envoys accredited to China, from relevant national ministries and commissions, universities, enterprises, and financial institutions.
As one of the co-organizers of the forum, Liu Jinping, General Manager of Shaanxi Blower Group Co., Ltd., was invited to participate in the roundtable discussion. Centered on the theme “Integrating and Advancing the Dual Chains Toward Carbon Neutrality,” he joined Ma Jinfeng, Executive Director of the National–Local Joint Engineering Center for Carbon Dioxide Capture and Storage; Zhang Yingke, Chief Technical Expert at PetroChina Changqing Oilfield Company; Wang Xiangzeng, Deputy General Manager and Chief Geologist of Shaanxi Yanchang Petroleum (Group) Co., Ltd.; Li Laixin, Party Secretary and Executive Director of Shaanxi Coal & Chemical Industry Group’s Coalbed Methane Development and Utilization Co., Ltd.; Zheng Kaixue, General Manager of Hualu Engineering Technology Co., Ltd.; Cao Yang, Vice President of Baker Hughes and President of its China Region; Hu Yuhua, Chairman of Savills West China; and other industry scholars and business leaders, to engage in a spirited exchange of ideas on the integrated development of the carbon‑neutrality innovation chain and the carbon‑neutrality industrial chain.
It is reported that the “two chains” refer to the “carbon neutrality” innovation chain and the “carbon neutrality” industrial chain. Their aim is to explore strategies and pathways for China to proactively address climate change, achieve peak carbon emissions, and attain carbon neutrality in the current context; to deliberate on measures for green and low‑carbon development; to foster the establishment of open, shared clusters of carbon‑neutral technological innovation and industrial ecosystems; to build platforms for carbon‑neutrality and technology exchange among countries and regions along the Belt and Road; and to contribute intellectual insights to the building of a community with a shared future for mankind.
